GOP optimism is really out there

We live in a universe of matter and anti-matter, and reality and anti-reality.

An ABC News-Washington Post poll released this morning shows that 63 percent of registered voters expect President Obama to win re-election on Nov. 6.

According to the poll, Obama is ahead of Romney 49 percent to 47 percent among likely voters. It’s worse for Romney in swing states, where voters prefer the president by a margin of 52 percent to 41 percent. And only 13 percent of voters surveyed say there is a possibility they will change their mind about who they will vote for.

And ABC News reports that potential voters by a 56-29 percent margin also expect Obama to win the series of presidential debates starting Wednesday.

Romney campaigners are out doing damage control, but N.J. Gov. Chris Christie has struck out on his own. Rather than working to ease expectations on Romney’s debate performance, he is ratcheting up pressure on the candidate, saying, “I have absolute confidence that, when we get to Thursday morning, George, all you’re going to be shaking your head, saying it’s a brand-new race with 33 days to go.”
