Glaxo employees may be unhappy with amenities drought at Philadelphia Navy Yard

Sure they’ll be moving into shiny new cubicles in a sparkling new office building, but the thousand-plus GlaxoSmithKline employees headed for the Navy Yard might find themselves homesick for the amenities of Center City.

What will they find in the way of lunch spots and pubs? Almost nothing, reports Diane Mastrull in the Inquirer. There’s a walkable cafeteria in the Urban Outfitters building, but little else. No place at all for an after-work beer and nosh.

Navy Yard folks say amenities will come as the sprawling project progresses. Until then, brief car rides offer the pleasures of South Philly and Center City.
