Girl, 15, killed outside hospital identified

Authorities have released the name of a teenage girl shot and killed outside of a Philadelphia hospital minutes after a disturbance at a nearby transit station.

A police spokesman said 15-year-old Aisha Abdur-Rhaman died after she was hit by gunfire that also critically injured a 19-year-old man outside of Einstein Medical Center.

Officials said the girl was apparently walking home from Delaware Valley Charter High School, where she was a sophomore. WPVI-TV reported that school officials released a statement saying she was “a bright, cheerful, and energetic young lady and will be deeply missed.”

Authorities said 50 to 100 teens and young adults arguing outside the Olney Transportation Center shortly after 4 p.m. Monday began to walk toward the hospital 100 yards away, and the shots then rang out.
