Garden State Parkway to end toll-mailing system

Get your exact change ready. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority will soon eliminate the forgiving policy that lets Garden State Parkway riders mail their tolls if they don’t have enough change.

Come Oct. 17, drivers will no longer have the option of taking an envelop instead of tossing in coins, according to an Associated Press report.

The system allowed those without the right amount to grab the envelope and mail the change post-commute.

Instead, cameras will be installed at the tolls and toll-skippers will be sent a notice to pay, plus a $50 administrative fee. Now that’s a toll hike.
