Frank endorses Sestak for Senate
The congressman said electing Sestak over Arlen Specter is important to have a true democratic voice in the Senate.
The challenger in the Democratic race for Senate in Pennsylvania is lining up support from a prominent Massachusetts Congressman. Congressman Barney Frank spoke in support of fellow congressional member Joe Sestak in Philadelphia today.
Swimming against the current of top political figures, including President Obama, Congressman Frank said electing Sestak over Republican turned Democrat Arlen Specter is important to have a true Democratic voice in the Senate.
Frank: Senator Specter was a Republican by choice he’s a Democrat by necessity, the necessity of re-election. I regret the fact that moderate republican’s don’t have much of a place but I don’t think the answer to that is giving up a democratic seat as I hope this would become to a Republican.
Congressman Sestak says his fellow congressman came to him offering the endorsement. Frank says he expects to be back to campaign for Sestak should he win the May primary.
