Foundation makes a deal to continue art appreciation classes at new Barnes museum

A foundation that’s long partnered with the Barnes Foundation has announced an agreement to continue the partnership when the Barnes opens on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway next spring.

The Violette de Mazia Foundation’s art appreciation classes will continue in the Barnes’ new location, according to the Main Line Times, with a commitment of $1 million “to be paid over an extended period of time.”

De Mazia’s career began at the Barnes in Lower Merion in 1925 and served as director of education and vice president until she died in 1988.
