Former Flyers defenseman dies in Russian plane crash

    Former Flyers player Brad McCrimmon died this morning in a plane crash in Russia. A jet carrying the Lokomotiv hockey team of the KHL crashed this morning, killing 43 people and injuring two others.

    CSNPhilly reports McCrimmon, the team’s coach, was on the plane with players and crew members when the jet went down. The team was due to play against Dinamo Minsk Thursday in the opening game of the KHL season.

    McCrimmon, 52, was with the Flyers from 1982 to 1987.
