Forest fire forces Chester County residents to evacuate

A fire that has burned through at least 100 acres in French Creek State Park has forced residents of Berks and Chester County to evacuate.

NBC10 reports the homes were evacuated Tuesday morning.

Some residents have been placed at the Immaculate Conception Social Hall in Birdsboro, which has been established as an emergency shelter. Other residents are being cared for at the Immaculate Conception church in Douglassville.

NBC10 reports firefighters were concerned about a nearby fireworks factory on Sycamore Road in Douglassville, but as of Monday night, the area around the store was secured.
