Forensic sculptor Frank Bender dies at 70

    Frank Bender died yesterday, a year after doctors gave him months to live. The Philadelphia-born and -based forensic sculptor was known for the hand-molded busts he made to help identify unknown murder victims.

    Bender, 70, died from complications of pleural mesothelioma, a chest cancer. He worked with America’s Most Wanted and the Vidocq Society, making between 40 and 50 busts of unidentified murder victims.
