Five hoagie recipes up for public taste tests at Liberty Place
It’s National Sandwich Day, but the real scene is in Philly, where five finalists today will present their hoagie recipes for judging and public consumption.
The With Love Hoagie Invitational begins at 11:30, and has five people competing to make what will called the “With Love” hoagie at Primo’s.
Councilman Jim Kenney, Primo’s owner Nick Papanier and Michael Klein and Ashley Primis from the Inquirer will serve as judges, but if you get to the Liberty Place rotunda on time, you can sample the hoagies, too.
Update, 5 p.m. And the winner is . . . Michael Minetti of Conshohocken. His sandwich of turkey, pepperoni, hot capicola, mozzarella and pepperjack was the favorite among judges, in-person voters and passers-by, KYW reports. That’ll be the new “With Love” hoagie at all Primo’s locations for a year.
The event is part of the ongoing Great Philadelphia Hoagie Debate.
