Fishtown cash-for-gold store up for sale

Close but no cigar. Er, make that no cash-for-gold.The store set to open across from Fishtown’s SugarHouse Casino had just a couple hurdles left to cross before opening, but PlanPhilly reports it’s now for sale.
After catching the ire of residents, the store sparked (but did not fall under) legislation proposed by Councilmen Darrell Clarke and Frank DiCicco that would classify future cash-for-gold stores under the same zoning umbrella as pawn shops. The store has an over-the-counter permit to operate as a jewelry store, which must devote 25 percent of the floor space to precious metal sales. Residents noticed the store when its signs advertised cash-for-gold, but not jewelry.L&I’s Maura Kennedy told PlanPhilly the only steps left before the store could get its occupancy permit were to schedule and pass the inspection.
