First weekend of Philadelphia’s new approach to teen violence

The expanded police presence, extended rec center hours and tighter curfew laws begin now.

This weekend is the first since city officials took the mic earlier this week to announce their coordinated approach to stopping and penalizing teens who engage in violent attacks.

Curfews in Center City and University have been bumped up to 9 p.m. for teens 18 and younger, and 20 rec centers across the city will stay open later to provide an alternative to these long, boring summer nights. Here’s a list of activities happening this weekend at those rec centers.
