First weekend of Philadelphia curfew nets 50 arrests

Some in Philadelphia are calling the first weekend of Mayor Michael Nutter’s curfew for minors a success, after the city took dozens of teens into custody this weekend.

According to Philly.com, dozens of minors were picked up by Philadelphia Police Friday night during the city’s first night of its 9 p.m. curfew.

Philly.com reports a quiet Friday night overall, with the exception of an incident in West Philadelphia, where police say a man was mugged by a group of teenagers around 12:40 a.m.

On Saturday night, Mayor Nutter made an appearance at Erie Lanes on East Erie Ave. to bowl with the Philadelphia Youth Commission.  Local TV news cameras captured video of the mayor bowling a strike during his first set.
