Any fires that spark today could quickly get out of control, forecasters warn.

The National Weather Service has issued a “Red Flag Warning” for northern and central New Jersey, including Monmouth County, due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels.

The warning continues until 8 p.m. today.

    Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Due to lighter winds expected, the danger is not as severe in Ocean, Atlantic, and Cap May counties, although conditions are producing an “enhanced risk” of fire spread.
