Firefighters are battling a multiple alarm blaze in a commercial structure on Long Beach Boulevard in Ship Bottom late Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out shortly before 3:30 p.m. in a building containing a law firm located across from Joe Pop’s Shore Bar and Restaurant, NBC10 reports

Numerous fire departments were quickly dispatched to the scene, according to radio transmissions.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions in the third floor of the structure and were ordered to evacuate shortly after 4:00 p.m. No injuries were reported as of 4:05 p.m.

Shortly thereafter, firefighters were ordered to draft water out of the Barnegat Bay, according to radio transmissions. Crews then reentered the building just before 4:30 p.m. Firefighters are protecting nearby structures.

Crews were making progress on knocking down the blaze around 5:00 p.m., according to JSHN contributors

Expect heavy delays in the area of 21st Street and Long Beach Boulevard, the Long Beach Island Police Department advises.

“My wife and kids are there,” said JSHN contributor Tim Stewart. “Parked on the beach side of 21st. They can’t get out.”

    This is a developing story.
