Fire rips through Camden manufacturing plant

A multi-alarm fire that swept through one of Camden’s last active manufacturing plants is under control.

Firefighters were called to the Magnetic Metals plant in Camden’s Cramer Hill neighborhood at around 10:50 p.m. last night. By early this morning, the blaze was at six alarms and neighboring fire departments were providing assistance.

The Courier-Post reports that Magnetic Metals, founded in 1942, specializes in stamped metal products used in a number of industries, including defense contracting.

In addition to its Camden operation, the company has plants in California and Arizona.
