Fire causes smoke damage at Pottsville paper

A fire in a boiler room near the Pottsville Republican-Herald has caused smoke damage to their offices but no injuries.

Authorities say the Friday afternoon fire appears to have started in a shed behind the Republican-Herald building. It was brought under control just after 7 p.m., the paper reports.

The cause is under investigation. Smoke also damaged nearby offices on the ground floor of the former Necho Allen Hotel.
