FEMA denies Christie’s request for flood relief

Relief for the damage from last month’s storms will have to come from someplace else, because FEMA won’t be helping New Jersey.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency told the governor the flooding did not cause enough damage, the Associated Press reports, and that 80 percent of affected homeowners were covered by insurance.

Christie declared a “major disaster” and requested aid for Passaic, Bergen, Essex and Morris counties. He’s got 30 days to appeal.
