Fast moving fire kills Delaware woman and her pet

A fast moving fire has killed a 62 year old Odessa woman and one of her three dogs Tuesday night.

The Middletown Transcript in its on line story identifies the woman as Lynn Scannell.  Her cousin, Sandy Hughes told the paper that Scannell died with one of her dogs beside her.  One dog escaped and one is still missing. Hughes suspects the one dog escaped through a broken window.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s office said the Odessa Fire Company found the house totally engulfed in flames when it arrived on the scene just after 7pm.

No cause has been given for the cause of the fire.  The Transcript reports Scannell had grown up at that home. She owned two horses in addition to her other pets.
