A former staffer to Gov. Chris Christie says she and another ally discussed plans to sabotage an aide as she was readying to become the governor’s deputy chief of staff.

Christina Renna testified Friday in the criminal trial of two former allies of the Republican governor. Renna acknowledged she approved of a plan to convince other staffers in the Intergovernmental Affairs department to turn their backs on Bridget Kelly as she began overseeing the unit.

Renna says she was upset Kelly had been considering someone else to be her second-in-command. Kelly is on trial in the George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal.

She is accused along with former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey executive Bill Baroni of plotting to shut down lanes of the bridge as part of a political retaliation plot.
