Economy League launches ‘world class’ Philadelphia initiative

Philadelphia is not a world class city. It’s not an insult; we’re just not there yet. But the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia is setting out to make us one.

The organization unveiled its World Class Greater Philadelphia intiative yesterday.

With goal of uniting business, nonprofit, government, labor and community to better Philadelphia by 2026 — the 250th anniversary, the Economy League has developed a strategy for making the city world class.

And yes, there’s a contest. Based on the 2026: Future Histories of Greater Philadelphia report, make a video about life in Philadelphia in 2026. Submit your video by July 31 for a public vote, and cross your fingers for a chance to win $2,026.
