Dwindling salt, sagging roofs as snow falls in Pa.
More snow fell on winter-weary Pennsylvania as roofs sag and the price of road salt goes through the roof.
Most of eastern Pennsylvania saw at least a couple inches of new snow on Saturday, with as many as 7 inches reported by the National Weather Service in Carbon County.
Chuck Lantzman of Snow and Ice Management in Pittsburgh tells WTAE-TV the price of salt is skyrocketing because it’s now being trucked in from Virginia, rather than being delivered by barge and train from upstate New York.
On the other side of Pennsylvania, WFMZ-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1kJCiUH) that a roof is sagging under heavy snow accumulation at Amazon.com’s warehouse near Allentown. Amazon says it’s closed the building for the day.
In Lancaster, WGAL-TV returned to the air a day after a portion of its station roof collapsed Friday.
