DuPont to buy California-based solar startup

DuPont closed a deal yesterday to buy the California-based startup Innovalight, Inc.

The Wilmington chemical and sciences company will operate the new combined venture in California, where Innovalight’s founder will take on the role of general manager.

Innovalight, as the Wilmington News Journal reports, makes enhanced solar cells with silicon inks and processes and most of its customers are in Asian countries.

DuPont’s solar sales are projected to reach $2 billion by 2014. Financial terms of the sale agreement have not been disclosed.
