DRWC bans fishing on Race Street Pier

A small group of anglers is ruining Race Street Pier fishing for the whole bunch.

The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation has decided to ban fishing at the new waterfront park for a handful of reasons — most stemming from the practices of a few anglers.

PlanPhilly reports some fishermen were gutting their catches on the pier’s benches, leaving hooks behind, prying up bricks to prop their poles and casting into the same area of the river the duck boats use. None of those activities quite fit into the pier’s family-friendly atmosphere.
