Driving dangerously

At least 11 people died in Pennsylvania over the holiday weekend, all resulting from car crashes. Pa. State Troopers report 693 crashes killed 11 people and injured more than 200 others between Dec. 30 and Jan. 2. Crashes and fatalities not covered by the troopers are not included in those numbers.

Nearly 80 of those crashes, the Inquirer reports, were alcohol related and killed five people. In six of the 11 total deaths, people weren’t wearing seat belts.

Those fatalities are up from last year (six), but the number of crashes is down significantly from 1,131.
