Dow: Clean-up of Bristol plant fire continues, odors still present

Clean-up continues in Bucks County after last week’s fire at the Dow Chemical Plant in Bristol.

Patch reports Dow has contained the ethyl acrylate and butyl acrylate, but odors could persist until clean-up is complete.
Residents in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas reported chemical odors in the air last week after a fire at the plant generated the smell from the paint ingredients.

Dow has said the chemicals are not toxic and the vapors are at acceptable levels. Headaches, nausea, and throat or eye irritation are possible until the odor clears for good.
