DelDOT’s next of kin registry starts today

Delaware’s Division of Motor Vehicles will debut its next of kin registry today. The free program allows residents with driver’s licenses or state identification cards to submit contact information for a loved on in case of an emergency.

The Associated Press and Wilmington News Journal report only police and other emergency personnel will have access to the information, which they can use to contact your designated next of kin during an emergency.

The program is voluntary, and residents can enter in person, online or through the mail.
