Delaware Week of Service is underway

A Week of Service in Delaware is designed to raise awareness about volunteerism across the First State, and ways to contribute to the community.

The Delaware Office of Volunteerism, the Governor’s Commission for Community and Volunteer Services and AmeriCops are working with United Way, the Delaware Association of Nonprofit Agencies and other organizations to encourage Delawareans to get involved and volunteer.  The Delaware National Guard has also announced the beginning of a food collection drive to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware in conjunction with the Week of Service.  The week concludes Saturday with Global Youth Service Day as more than 1,500 young people are expected at four Dover elementary schools and several other clean-up sites across Delaware’s capital city.  To find out more about the Week of Service or volunteer opportunities in Delaware, visit www.volunteerdelaware.org or call 302-857-5006.
