Delaware County SPCA reconsidering animal control services extension

In a sudden turn of events, the Delaware County SPCA may extend its animal control services after all.

A letter from the organization to County Council late yesterday says the local SPCA will consider extending its service beyond the planned July 1 cut-off date. Until Tuesday, the Delco SPCA was adamant it could not extend the service for fear of jeopardizing the facility’s sustainability.

Radnor Patch reports County Council is expected to respond today to the SPCA’s notice that an extension might be possible if the county foots the bill.

The figure could work out to more than $116 per animal to cover medical and labor costs.
