In honor of Black History Month, the Delaware County Historical Society Museum will host an exhibit celebrating the lives of local African Americans. The “Enslavement to Enlightenment” exhibit opens Saturday.
The public will get a glimpse of the life of Twyla Simpkins, who’s personal collections details her life growing up in Chester and her time as a student and teacher at Chester High School, as the Delaware County Times reports.
Chester artist Van Buren Payne’s work will also be on display, and will be offering art lessons. The exhibit is open Wednesdays through Saturdays in February.
