Del. man sentenced to 2 years for campaign finance scheme
Delaware businessman who pleaded guilty in an illegal campaign finance scheme involving candidates for state and federal office is about to learn whether he will spend time in federal prison for his crimes.
Christopher Tigani faces up to 16 years in prison when he appears before a federal judge in Wilmington on Tuesday.
Update, 1:30 p.m. Tigani has been sentenced to two years in prison, WHYY/NewsWorks’ Mark Eichmann tells us. That’s a month shy of what the prosecutors were asking for. Tigani’s sentence will begin on or before April 9.

Tigani pleaded guilty last year to using his family’s alcoholic beverage distributorship to make illegal campaign contributions. Court records suggest that some of those contributions went to Vice President Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign.
Tigani is asking that he be sentenced to home confinement and community service, but federal prosecutors want the judge to sentence him to at least 25 months behind bars.
