The clock is ticking for Delawareans and other Americans to apply for health insurance coverage starting Jan. 1 under the federal health reform law.

Monday is the deadline to enroll in Delaware’s new health insurance exchange for coverage starting on New Year’s Day.

State officials have said they hope to enroll 35,000 Delawareans in the exchange, but they reported fewer than 800 paid enrollments last week. That’s less than 2.5 percent of the target goal.

Officials also reported that four community organizations that received $4 million in public funds to teach people about the health insurance law and help them enroll had reported only 67 enrollments.
