Defense expected to rest today in sentencing for Georgetown cop killing

    The defense is expected to finish its arguments today in the penalty hearing for Derrick Powell. The 24-year-old faces the death penalty for the September 2009 murder of Georgetown police officer Chad Spicer.
    As the Associated Press reports, the prosecution will being its closing arguments once the defense calls its final witnesses. A jury must then decide if the death penalty or life in prison is the appropriate sentence.
