A Brick man was found deceased in a Brick Township creek Friday morning, authorities said.

Police arrived to the Brick Creek off Brandywine Court after receiving a call around 7:30 a.m. from an area resident who spotted a body lying face down in the water, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Arriving units found a deceased man, later identified as Mark Rogich, 54, of Brandywine Court, Della Fave said, adding that the scene was immediately sealed for an investigation.

“At this time, there is nothing to indicate that the finding presents any danger to area residents,” the spokesman said. “The death preliminarily does not appear suspicious, and there were no outward signs of foul play.”

The Brick Township Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Units, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI are investigating, according to Della Fave.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, he said.

“More information will be released as it becomes available,” the spokesman said.
