Daniel Boone student prepares for senior year, school board post

Connor Kurtz is getting ready to go back to school, just like the rest of classmates at Daniel Boone High.

But when Kurtz shows up this year, he’ll be serving two roles: student and school board member hopeful.

In an interview with the Pottstown Mercury, Kurtz explained how his duties in the classroom can help the board: “Schools exist to provide students with an education and I can see how their policies are really being implemented. I can see it from the inside out instead of from the outside in.”

The incoming senior won the board primary in May and is hoping for a successful general election this fall. He’s focusing on fiscal conservancy, with a focus on teacher and employee contracts.
