Creishem Valley Road scheduled to close for two days next week

A stretch of Cresheim Valley Drive in Mt. Airy is slated to be closed for roadwork next Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a Philadelphia Streets Department news release.

The curvey street will be off-limits to traffic between Germantown Avenue and Creishem Road as crews work to repair damage caused by major flooding in 2004.

Emergency repairs were made at that time, but never completed.

” This project takes those repairs one step further to reduce the risk of washouts from future severe storms,” said Keisha McCarty-Skelton, a Streets Department spokesperson.

Cresheim Valley Drive is scheduled to re-open Wednesday night. Moving forward, necessary roadwork will be completed using single-lane closures during essentially business hours – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

McCarty-Skelton said Hurricane Sandy, expected to hit Philadelphia hard late Monday into Tuesday, will likely delay the work.

” It’ll probably be pushed back, I’m sure,” she said.

An alternative closure date has not been scheduled/
