Crash involving downed utility pole closes Route 9 in Barnegat early Monday afternoon

Police in Barnegat have closed a portion of Route 9 in the township following an early Monday afternoon crash.
Route 9 is closed between Barnegat Boulevard and Rosehill Road due to a downed pole and wires, according to a release from the Barnegat Police Department.
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.
49 percent of the township’s JCP&L customer base, or approximately 4,000, are without power as of 1:30 p.m., according to the utility.
JCP&L anticipates power restoration by 3:00 p.m.
