Couple guilty of robbery, endangerment charges

A jury has found John Benson and Sheakia Stubbs guilty on all charges for last winter’s South Street jewelry heist.

The couple was on trial for robbing a store, slashing the owner’s throat and leaving their 4-year-old son behind.

Benson was found guilty of attempted murder and aggravated assault for his attack on the owner, in addition to robbery, conspiracy, retail theft and child endangerment charges.

As the Inquirer reports, Stubbs has already served 17 months in jail since her arrest — three months longer than the sentencing guideline range for her convictions on conspiracy, retail theft and child endangerment charges.

Both are due in court Sept. 21 for sentencing. Stubbs is out on bail until then.
