Corbett’s proposed tax breaks for Shell not a done deal

    Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett’s proposal to offer Shell Oil $1.7 billion in tax breaks to build an ethane cracker in Beaver County is now part of the state budget talks underway in Harrisburg. We learn more from StateImpact’s Scott Detrow.

    The proposed chemical plant would convert components from shale gas into compoounds that can be used to make plastic. It could mean thousands of jobs in the Pittsburg area, but opponents say reductions in state spending make the tax breaks unaffordable.
