Corbett will sign bill to extend Philadelphia’s red-light cameras

Without legislative action, Philadelphia’s red-light camera program would have expired at the end of the month.

Bad news for scofflaws — Gov. Tom Corbett is expected to sign the bill that extends the program for six months. CBS3 reports the reprieve is meant to encourage more discussion about the cameras and whether to delpoy them in other cities.
The argument over the cameras’ usefulness comes down to two opposing views: some say the cameras act as a safety feature, others argue they’re just revenue generators.

The map below pinpoints the city’s red-light cameras.
