Corbett to embark on European trade mission next spring

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett is leading a state trade mission to Europe in March.

The governor’s office said Tuesday that Corbett will lead a group of Pennsylvania business leaders to Germany and France in search of new international opportunities. Officials say the six-day trip will be financed and organized by the Team Pennsylvania Foundation, a private non-profit partnership with the state.
Team Pennsylvania spokesman Jim Mentzer says 15 to 20 businesses will be represented on the trip, which will run from March 18 to March 23.

Officials say Pennsylvania companies exported goods and services worth more than $767 million to France and more than $1.4 billion to Germany last year. Currently, they say 438 French firms employ more than 18,500 people in Pennsylvania, and 707 German companies employ more than 34,900.
