Corbett signs safe passage law for bicycles

In 59 days, Pennsylvania drivers will be required to leave four feet of space when passing bicyclists.

Gov. Tom Corbett today signed the “safe passing law,” which allows motorists to cross the usually forbidden double-yellow line to leave space while passing a cyclist.

If there’s oncoming traffic, the driver would have to wait for a clearance to pass the bike. Corbett signed the law yesterday.
