Corbett says he’ll veto a Marcellus drilling levy

The Pennsylvania House will consider a fee for drilling at the state’s Marcellus Shale whales, but Gov. Tom Corbett is pretty much saying don’t bother.

The guv. said today he’d veto any levy on Marcellus drilling. According to the Associated Press, Corbett is waiting on a panel to make Shale-related recommendations before he considers a shale tax or fee.

House Republicans have sponsored an amendment to place a $50,000 fee on Marcellus wells in the first year. That fee would decrease over the next decade.
