Corbett one of six rookie governors magazine says is doing well

Of the nation’s 26 rookie governors, six are doing well.

That’s according to Governing magazine’s Louis Jacobson, who included Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett on the short list.

Corbett is doing well, losing points for his handling of natural gas drilling impact fees.
Jacobson based his assessment on analyses from local experts, popularity and agenda follow-through. That quickly broke the 26 governors who took office in 2011 into four groups: doing very well, doing well, mixed records and struggling.

Corbett is one of five Republicans on the six-governor list. The “very well” list is split in half by party. Of the seven rookie guvs with mixed records, five are Republican. Two Dems, four Republicans and one Independent are “struggling.”
