Corbett expected to sign Castle Doctrine extension

Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett is expected to sign a expansion of the state’s Castle Doctrine — the law that permits residents to defend themselves inside their homes.

Not sure what the Castle Doctrine really is, or what the extension would mean? Let’s break it down:

The law permits the use of deadly force in a residents’ efforts to defend themselves in their “castle.”
The extension expands the law to include things like your bike or car as part of your “castle.”
The Senate and House have both passed the extension bill; the five dissenting senators are from Philadelphia.
