Cops: Penn State professor lured to quarry, pushed to death
Police say the body of a missing Penn State professor has been found in a quarry, and another man is charged with luring him there and pushing him to his death.
The Centre Daily Times reports 56-year-old Ronald Bettig, an associate professor of media studies, was last seen on August 13.
Pennsylvania State Police say 39-year-old George Ishler Jr., of Pennsylvania Furnace, has been charged. They say he drove the professor to the quarry “under a ruse” and pushed him off the ledge.
No motive has been given and it wasn’t clear what their relationship was.
Ishler faces charges including first- and third-degree murder. No attorney information is listed online.
Bettig joined the College of Communications in 1988. He taught courses on the political economy of communications.
