Community gathers in Roxborough for annual veterans tribute [photos]

Friends and neighbors gathered at Roxborough’s Gorgas Park to salute, honor and thank hospitalized Veterans from the Coatesville VA Medical Center for their service and sacrifice.

Escorted by a Philadelphia Police and Warrior Watch motorcycle convoy, the veterans were treated to a day of food, entertainment and performances by the Merion Concert Band, Savoy Company and more.

“We have such a great community here; they’re always out to support people, especially our veterans. They’re forgotten, but this community does not forget them. This is our way of saying thank you to these guys for their service,” said Bruce Hoffman, president of the 21st Ward Veterans Association and organizer of the Hospitalized Veterans Tribute.
