College students plan afternoon walk-out to protest education funding cuts, ‘destructive policies’

If you’re anywhere close to a Philadelphia-area college today or the school district building on North Broad Street, be on the lookout for mobs of students.

An afternoon walk-out is planned to protest education funding cuts, mounting student and loan debt and what one Temple student told City Paper are “destructive policies” around government spending on education.
Similarly, students, faculty and staff at Community College of Philadelphia will take part in a 90-institution “Occupy Colleges” rally  to raise questions about colleges’ spending priorities. That demonstration will feature a giant puppet dressed as a professor.
