Cobblestone repair project will affect entire length of Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill

NewsWorks has learned that the cobblestones repair project on Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill will go from Mermaid Lane all the up to Bethlehem Pike.

In an earlier story, we reported the the road repair project was going to affect the stretch from Mermaid Lane up to Southampton Ave, but Penn DOT spokesman Eugene Blaum says crews are working in phases and all of the cobblestones will be reset and re-grouted on both sides of Germantown Avenue.

“Crews are currently working along Germantown Pike just north of Willow Grove Avenue. Crews are currently working alongside the northbound travel lane.  Upon reaching Bethlehem Pike, the operation will shift to the opposite side of Germantown Avenue and crews will work back to Mermaid Lane,” Blaum said.

The Department’s contractor, James J. Anderson, Inc. of Philadelphia, expects to finish this operation in approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
