Coatesville Redevelopment Authority hopes to buy old Amtrak station at discount

Coatesville is getting a new train station, and possibly another development.

A new station has been proposed near the current one at Fleetwood Avenue to meet the train track an ADA requirements transit hubs need. When that work is complete, the Coatesville Redevelopment Authority hopes to buy the old station from Amtrak and redevelop it.

The West Chester Daily Local reports the authority has been in talks to purchase the station for $1, and already has $1.3 million for a renovation project.

But nothing is happening tomorrow. It could be 2015 before the new station is built, and no official deal has been made with Amtrak.
